OUR AIM
Our aim is to design a building in such a way that it works with your site, it uses the sun to heat and light your home and the natural breeze to cool it, we want your home to be an extension of the land and feel as though it has always been there rather than something unnatural.
A building energy assessor will work closely with us during the design phase of your new home to ensure that it is as energy efficient as possible. Currently a 10 Star rating is the highest rating achievable for an Australian home and something we aim for on each one of our projects.
WHAT WE DO
We pride ourselves on top-quality architectural drafting.
Not only is each plan architectural designed to suite your site but intended to work with it as well. Our plans are created to work with your surroundings and create a home that is not only architectural beautiful but energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
WE STRIVE FOR 10 STAR
We compared our 10 Star homes to the average 3 Star Homes found across NSW and found that our homes are 25x more energy efficient than the majority of homes already built.
A few benefits of designing your home with 10 Star rating and coming up with your own 10 Star plan include:
Energy Efficient Design
Reduced Carbon Footprint
Thermally comfortable all year round
Increased market value
Potential to be self-sufficient
SUSTAINABLE DESIGN
A good design is a smart investment.
Choosing a designer for your next project is an important decision. You put a great deal of faith in them to translate your ideas, dreams and requirements into a built form. However, at this stage, you must ask yourself: although my design looks aesthetically pleasing, does it work well?
We place sustainable design at the cornerstone of 10 Star’s design philosophy, not only is each plan architecturally created to suite your site and surroundings, though our aim is to create a relationship to work with it as well.
By combining architecture with maintainable practices we develop a building that equally gives you immediate and long lasting lifestyle and health benefits and the peace of mind that you are doing your part to help the environment.
THE SUSTAINABLE DIFFERENCE
Inviting the outside in will allow your home to be cooled by the breeze and be warmed by the sun. All our plans are specifically designed for your site and planned to work with it and all the natural elements.
In theory having a 10 Star rated home means that whether it’s 40 degrees outside or minus 4, the inside of your home will stay at a relatively comfortable temperature without the need for an air-conditioner or heater.
By concentrating on the effort on creating a sustainable design we are left with a home that uses its environment to its full potential, this is true sustainability. Additionally we are able to add extras such as a water tanks and solar panels to produce a home that is self-supporting and one that helps support our environment.
ENERGY ASSESSMENTS
Think of the building Energy Rating like the Energy Star Rating on your fridge, basically it tells us how energy efficient a house is and just like your fridge the more stars, the better. Now if they are currently required to be displayed on all new appliances by law, shouldn’t they be shown on houses to?
Wouldn’t it be great when designing your new home it came with an energy efficiency rating and depending on the rating you can make alterations at the design stage with a rubber and not later on with a sledge hammer. Building energy ratings will allow you to compare how energy efficient they are to one another and this can be a determining factor.
FEATURES OF AN ENERGY EFFICIENT HOME
ALL ABOUT DESIGN
So when we talk about an energy efficient building we aren’t talking about adding solar panels and LED’s, we are talking purely about the design. Our aim is to create an energy efficient design, the rest we can just add on later if needed.
COMPARE THE MARKET
We compared the average 3 Star home found across NSW to the exact same home but with a 10 Star energy rating and found that a 10 Star home is 25x more energy efficient than the majority of homes already built around the NSW.
A BRIDGE BETWEEN THE OUTDOORS AND INDOORS
What we do is invite the outside in, we allow your home to be cooled by the breeze and be warmed by the sun. All our plans are specifically designed for your site and intended to work with it and all the natural elements. Who said going green was more expensive?
NO NEED FOR MECHANICAL HEATING AND COOLING
In theory having a 10 Star rated home means that whether it’s 40 degrees outside or minus 4, the inside will stay at a relatively comfortable temperature without the need for an air-conditioner or heater.
REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
Heating and cooling accounts for 40% of the energy used in an Australian home. This makes it by far the largest expenditure of energy in our homes. Now what if we could eliminate heating and cooling? This will nearly cut in half the average energy used by an Australian home and truly reduce on the greenhouse gas emissions.
A SMART INVESTMENT
A recent Australian study has found that, on average a one star improvement in the overall energy rating of a home translates to a 3% rise in the market value of your home
WHAT EXACTLY DOES A BUILDING ENERGY ASSESSOR DO?
Think of the building energy rating like the Energy Star Rating on your fridge, basically it tells us how energy efficient a building is and like your fridge the more stars the better. It assesses how much energy is used to heat and cool your home and keep it comfortable all year round.
It does this by running your home through a computer simulator and assessing each individual room for every hour of everyday for an entire year and at the end you receive a star rating out of 10 Stars, that lets you know how well it performs and highlights any problem areas that need to be addressed.
By having an energy assessor work closely with you during the design phase of your new home will give you an in depth look into how comfortable it will be to live in. The changes made at this point will be a lot easier to repair than later down the track.
The best way to think of it is an investment that will last the life of your home. Supposing that you are spending all that money building, you really want to make sure that your home is not just architecturally beautiful but energy efficient as well. Having an assessment completed will save you money on your energy bills and create a home that naturally stays cool in summer and warm in winter, and you will be making a positive contribution for the environment.
